A small fire broke out just after 7:00pm last night in the 3200 block of Sports Arena boulevard tonight. A three foot high pile of tree trimmings piled against the Glasshouse Parking structure was ablaze, filling the parking structure with smoke. Engine 8 arrived and knocked down the fire within minutes, then began cutting up and separating the smoldering brush to ensure that it was fully extinguished. No cause of the fire was immediately apparent.

Three witnesses grabbed fire extinguishers from the parking structure in an effort to combat the blaze initially, but none of the extinguishers worked. At least one showed an inspection tag dated 2007.

Photographer William Morton was driving by immediately after the fire started, and captured the accompanying images.
